About Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh

Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh is a senior retired officer of the Indian Army who served as the 34th Director General of the National Cadet Corps. Commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in 1987, he held command and staff appointments across a long military career. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Defence Services Staff College and National Defence College. His leadership of the NCC placed him at the head of one of India’s largest uniformed youth organisations. His service has been recognised through the PVSM, AVSM and VSM.
